General consensus states that a certain period of time must pass before treating any serious incident with humour.

Even with the falling of the Twin Towers, Americans and citizens of the world over were able to relieve a little pressure by laughing at The Onion’s articles released just two weeks after the planes crashed.

One issue — hiding below a cloud of dust that never settles — is denying us a much-needed therapeutic laugh. American gun control.

There is never a lapse of time long enough between all the murders to allow gun control to be treat with a medicinal laugh. Unless you like repetitive humour, in which case you must be in stitches every other day: “Our thoughts are with the families of those we have lost today . . . We must stand together and grieve this horrific tragedy”.

Standing together in grief is getting old and quite frankly not changing a fucking thing. America needs to respond with the same speed and might that would have been deployed if the 66 mass shootings that took place last month were carried out by another country. The response should be equally as violent and forceful. America has a weapon of mass destruction at its disposal, and it should be unleashed in all its power and glory to…
